While large enterprises have successfully adopted PdM using IoT, machine learning, and data analytics, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face unique challenges due to limited financial resources, technical infrastructure, and skilled personnel. This thesis develops a comprehensive framework for implementing PdM in SMEs, identifying critical system components, structural models, and relevant technologies. It analyzes SME-specific barriers and proposes practical solutions to overcome financial, technical, and organizational constraints. Furthermore, the study evaluates the potential impact of PdM on key performance indicators such as equipment availability, product quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Based on these insights, a step-by-step implementation roadmap is proposed, tailored to the capabilities and requirements of SMEs, enabling a practical transition to data-driven maintenance strategies that improve efficiency, reliability, and competitiveness. |
