As for small grocery stores, general stores, and other similar businesses in Vietnam, floods may cause these small businesses lots of trouble since a lot of the goods are put on the ground. And when there is a small flood, they will have to reorganize the goods to a higher place to prevent the damage from the flood. It would take lots of time and effort each time a flood rises, so the most optimal solution for that is a flood barrier. However, there are a few difficulties when it comes to the installation of flood barriers. The first thing is the size of the place where the flood barrier is installed, each house, and store has different dimensions for entrance. The second thing is the changing height of the ground, for many places in Viet Nam, after a certain time in the place where it is usually flooded, they will build a higher ground to present the flood. The third thing is the price of the flood barrier should not be too expensive so they can be affordable for small businesses and households. Thus, a conceptual design and prototype development of a flexible flood barrier that is suitable for Vietnamese is proposed. |
