The root causes stem from the data silo form across the organization during the scaling-up period, where velocity is an utmost priority. The data silo approach is not without its merit, as a team can quickly spin up a data system that can support their business requirements. However, in the long term, especially when the growth rates begin to yield diminishing returns, these data silos can play a large role in causing data inconsistency across the organization, significantly slowing down the daily operation. For this reason, paying up technical debt by designing and developing a system that can centralize vital data across departments is a valuable investment that can help to improve the stability of the organization. Based on that premise, this paper will propose a design strategy to implement a headless CMS application, called Directus, to solve the aforementioned data silos issue and review the effectiveness of such a system in improving the day-to-day operation of an organization. |
