Title: Audio transmission via discrete wavelet transform based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing on software defined radio system theory and implementation
Authors: Nguyen Huy Dung
Keywords: Audio transmission;Wavelet transform;Orthogonal frequency division;Radio system
Issue Date: 2021
Abstract:
The term industry 4.0 or Internet of things (IoT) is becoming more and more famous along with the rise of 5G technology, which is the next generation of cellular network technology, and with the 5G technology, a network with faster connection is expected. But due to the high demanding and the rapid growth of the users and smart devices that been used, we have to find out more and more techniques that can save bandwidth, but also can transfer data faster without the distraction of fading or noise. For this reason, nowadays, OFDM is a modulation
scheme that is preferred to use in modern telecommunication system. Therefore, the search of finding an alternative mapping scheme which can utilize the transmission bandwidth of OFDM system is still being conducted with the purpose of increasing the data transmission, and DWT seems to be a potential candidate.
The objective of this thesis is to learn how to apply DWT on an OFDM system to transmit audio data and also focus on how to implement it on hardware like Zedboard Zynq-7000. Some part of the thesis, comparison between FFT- and DWT- based OFDM to find out which one is better. To achieve this goal, the system must be built and synchronize perfectly so that the two devices can transfer the right data and the receiver can produce the audio signal as the transmitter sent. The quality of the signal should be considered because the audio signal does not present the same tone, frequency or height, there could be a difference between the source audio file and the received audio. Therefore, before running the system, we should use a calibration technique for frequency offset to find the offset frequency and then we can have the best quality signal
