R2R-based manufacturing processes is a complicated manufacturing system that incorporates both discrete and continuous operations. During the operation, raw materials (flexible form) follow their distinct paths through various process modules within the system. However, due to the intricacy of R2R manufacturing process, most of the R2R web systems are costly and considered as a compact built-in system in order to ensure high production performance. This thesis mainly focuses on designing and fabricating a flexible R2R web system. This R2R system relies on three competitive priorities of the manufacturing: cost, quality, and flexibility. The flexibility characteristics allow users to modify their own position of the system modules while maintaining the adequate quality output. This R2R system is designed with 3D model and fabricated into a realistic system. In order to validate the stability and reliability of the R2R web system, several numerical tests are conducted. Then, the calculation and optimization of the manufacturing cost of the system are analyzed and evaluated. |
