There have also been a few works dealing with non-Newtonian fluid, however, most of them focused on creeping flow (Re ! 0), and in which the fluid was non-thixotropic. Thixotropy is a rheological characteristics that associates with the microstructural evolution of the material under an applied shear stress. The behavior of non-Newtonian fluid (typically a Bingham type) in a cavity at a Reynolds number up to Re = 400 is one of the main objectives of this thesis. In addition, the effect of the thixotropy on the flow morphology is elucidated. |
