In plastic injection industry, a robot arm can be as efficient as 3 human operators as it can work independently endlessly if there are no errors. This thesis is a design of a Gantry robot arm that is able to combine two tasks: communicating with the Injection Machine and replace a human operator during working seasons. The components and simulation of the robot arms is designed and conducted on 2 CAD programs: Inventor for simulating and designing, NX for assembling and manufacturing. The prototype is able to accomplish 3 goals: the low price of maintenance and manufacturing, the ability to communicate between machine and robot, and a long working lifetime. During testing, the arm shows excellent rigidity, as well as a smooth transition between each movement. Also, the chance of sudden stops or errors during testing is very low. |
