Title: Turtlebot management system
Authors: Nguyen Tien Tuan Khiem
Keywords: Turtlebot;Management system
Issue Date: 2020
Publisher: Vietnamese-German University
Abstract:
Turtlebot is a robotic module available for students in the Vietnamese-German University robotic laboratory at the time of the writing. With built-in applications, the robot can perform a number of complicated tasks. For example, it can be remotely controlled to move around the surrounding environment. The robot is also able to scan, display a map of its surroundings, and also navigate to a specific location on the map. All of the above are just a few of all available Turtlebot robotic applications and the development of the robotic platform from software to hardware is currently going on at a fast pace. However, those applications come as separate software packages as they are created by different individuals and it is required for the human operator to have an adept technical background to run. The following document describes a web-based system with a user-friendly interface that manages applications built for the Turtlebot robotic module. The system has user control features such as "signing in", "logging out" and "registration". The system is also able to display a list of all connected robots and their hardware information via a web interface. Authorized users can select and remotely control the robot movement while the robot scans and displays the map of its surroundings. It is also able to export the map and store that map as data files. Furthermore, all the exported maps can be displayed via the web interface. With the scanned map data of the particular environment, users can control the robot to navigate to the desired location on the map. The writing is also concerned with the scalability of the system, the document includes discussions of drawbacks and possible improvements to support future related works
