Title: Blockchain-based certificate
Authors: Tran Minh Hoang
Keywords: Blockchain-based;Certificate
Issue Date: 2019
Publisher: Vietnamese-German University
Abstract:
The certificate issuing authorities seem to be compromised for the security credentials of student data due to the lack of effective anti-forge mechanism that causes the certificate to be forged. In order to solve this problem, blockchain is one of the most recent technologies that can be adopted for the data security to prevent certificate forgery due to the immutable records itself, and provide a reliable way to boost the efficiency of issuance and validation processes, and reduce costs associated with traditional paper certificates. The purpose of this paper is firstly to investigate how blockchain and smart contract can be applied to certificate issue and verification, and secondly focus on why the enterprise or educational institution who offers the certificates should use private blockchain rather than public blockchain. The application for the demo was built with Hyperledger Fabric is a blockchain framework implementation and one of the Hyperledger projects hosted by The Linux foundation.
