Under current conditions, urban environments in Vietnam are lacking in public spaces . The organization and exploitation of public space in order to improve the quality of life for residents is very necessary. Not only planners, designers interested in public spaces but urban residents pay more attention than ever. One issue raised with the question is whether the current public space planning and design has met the needs of the people. To clarify this issue, the author learned about the provisions of the law on public spaces in planning and design. Consult some planners, designers who have experience in public space to grasp the elements that they are interested in when planning or designing. In addition, and most importantly, this study conducted a small survey in “Citi Home” residential area, district 2, Ho Chi Minh City to better understand the residents' public space needs. The results from the survey clarified some of the doubts about the need for public space for residents. Most residents in the survey said that public space plays an important role in their lives, and this is also the factor they are interested in when choosing a place to live. Another result was noted when most residents said that public space influenced their emotions in daily life. This result is the basis to help investors pay more attention to public space in their projects. And this is also the basis for the planner, the designer is more concerned about psychological factors, psychological behavior of people when designing public spaces.en_US
