Abstract: 
In the nowadays’ working environment, the collaboration of members organizations, companies or institutes are one of the key factors that support to deliver productive and efficient works. The more collaboration people in the same team or group perform, the more outstanding performance and business results are delivered. Since the workforce comprises of people from different generation and the majority of Gen X and Gen Y in the workplace are very high, there are a certain generational differences of the two generations that might make them have conflicts or misunderstanding during their teamwork. Therefore, it is importance for enterprises and
management to understand these generational gaps as well as the factors that help to enhance the collaboration of Gen X and Gen Y. The researcher would like to practically experience the actual situation and study about how to increase the collaboration of the two mentioned generations in workplace.
Purpose: To explore and understand the actual situation of Gen X and Gen Y collaboration as well as find out the key factors that support their collaboration in the workplace.
Study approach: Questionnaires and data collection via offline and online interview with the participant size of 200 people.
Findings: The four main factors that positively support Gen X and Gen Y’s collaboration are open communication, mutual trust, roles and responsibilities understanding and skilled leadership, in which the communication between the two generations is considered that to play the most important role.
Research limitation: The study conducted based on the definitions of Gen X and Gen Y which were defined and developed by Western researchers. Compare to the histories, social events and reality of the workforce in Vietnam, there are might be certain differences that not fully reflected in the study.
