Besides, retaining talents or qualified staffs is also a critical function that Human Resource Management must handle. This issue requests a comprehensive strategy in which the factors must be seriously studied and evidentially tested before applying. Purpose: This research aims to find out the motivation factors and examine the relationship between these factors and “intention to stay” of employees. In addition to that, it also offers the managerial implications for human resource management or functional managers. Scope of research: There are many motivation theories developed long time ago and there are lots of previous researches that conducted on “employee retention” already. However the number of researches focus on “white collar” workforce who are working for enterprises located in Ho Chi Minh City is still limited. Therefore this research aimed to those. Methodology: More than 200 employees who are regarded as the “white collar staffs” and working in HCMC enterprises were responded the survey. The collected data was statistically analysed with the support of the SPSS program. Correlation and regression analysis were used to explain the findings. Findings: The findings shown that there are various models for motivating employees. In this research, the motivation factors such as characteristics of job, recognition of good performance of employee, the relationship between manager and staffs, the relationship amongst colleagues and the fairness in responsibility influence on intention to stay of “white collar” staffs positively. Conclusion: The findings support the prediction of employee turnover via the motivation factors namely “job characteristics”, “recognition”, “relationship with supervisor”, “relationship with coworkers” and “fair responsibility”. |
