Title: Methods to cope with variable demand in assembly systems
Authors: Vo Tien Loc
Keywords: Assembly systems;Line balancing;Model sequencing
Issue Date: 2017
Publisher: Vietnamese-German University
Abstract:
Assembly systems have a focal point in production to adapt dynamic changes of market as well as ensuring production quality and productivity. Whenever, demand is changed, assembly systems can satisfy it. Therefore, it is important to have primary methods to solve this problem.
To scope with variable demand, this thesis will focus on two basic factors: line balancing and model sequencing.
Line balancing becomes one of the most important parts for an industrial manufacturing systems that should be supervised carefully. The success of achieving the goal of production is influenced significantly by balancing assembly lines. Since then, many industries and for sure researchers, attempt to find the best methods or techniques to keep the assembly line balanced and then, to make it more efficient.
Model sequencing: due to dramatically increase kind of products and models today, assembly line must produce many products, models, series in one line to save cost and more flexibility. More models is more sophisticated in planning which model runs first and which one will run later based on customer’s requirement. Hence, there is necessary of information and methods for this deman
