| dc.description.abstract | The spread of high-level manufacturing and global competition contributes to the development of Smart sensor. The combination of electronic interface function and a sensor in an integrated smart sensor, would simplify the connection of sensors to standard electronic signal processors. This will lead to smarter and more powerful automated tools and machines. According to a market research firm that focus on semiconductor and electronics industry Databeans, Inc. stated that the worldwide revenue for sensors and Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) will reach $16.4 billion in 2017, a 12 percent increase than 2016. This prove that the sensor market always developing and growing. Therefore, the need for a study to analyzing the characteristics of the smart sensor more than ever. That helps to create a general orientation and make the assessment of current smart sensor, which contributes largely to the manufacturing industry. Where the efficiency, stability in large-scale production are extremely important factors. The work conducted in this thesis is to design and implement of Sensor testbed for monitoring operational status of Machinery as well as Machine tools. In which the main reference parameter for monitoring and tracking are considered in this thesis is operational (electric) current. The prototypical implementation of the Sensor testbed allows performance measurement of mainly 3 kinds of microcontroller: Arduino, Raspberry Pi 3 and Siemens SIMATIC IOT2000. These controllers execute the signal acquiring from two main Electrical current sensors which are used in industry: Current transformers and Hall Effect. Communication and Transmission protocols are optimized combined for each case. The evaluation is proceeded based on cost-benefit analysis of different sensor systems considering scalability aspects. In summary, the following tasks are conducted in this thesis: The brief overview of the current technology and sensing technique of smart sensor along with assessment about its parameters which is related to quality and performance when operating in the industry. Evaluate the smart sensor distributors, based on the sensor categories of the sensor is provided, prices and the compatibility when applied in production. The evaluation based on cost‐benefit analysis of different sensor systems considering scalability aspects. Along with the assessment of sensor, the communication method in industry is also mentioned in different aspects. The level of data response and signal transduction which Real-time protocol is carefully considered. Several manners of data visualizing are investigated and assessed not only by vivid, user-friendly but also by highly adaptable to the database framework under the control of many microcontrollers and operating systems. Build the concept as well as real implement of a Sensor testbed as the test platform for further research, develop new application for improved industrial manufacturing level. | en_US |
