Waste disposal in Vietnam differs from the methods used in Europe. For example, there are only a few waste collection points for the whole of Vietnam. More than 75 percent of the waste collected is legally or illegally buried. The Vietnamese government has recognized the need for environmentally responsible treatment of out-of-use goods and aims to promote sustainable solutions for the country. A new regulation obliges producers of certain products to take them back and treat them. The appropriate methods are not explained in detail and the exact obligations of the manufacturers are not defined. In contrast, the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act of Germany establishes a clear separation of duties between state and private actors. The main focus of the thesis is to analyze to what extent the methods used in Germany can be utilized, both for the recovery and treatment of old parts.en_US
