Title: Manufacturing operational intelligence: a case study at a chip making factory
Authors: Nguyen Van The
Keywords: Operational intelligence;Digital manufacturing;Smart factory
Issue Date: 2019
Publisher: Vietnamese-German University
Abstract:
One of the ultimate goals of a factory is to reduce production cost by maximizing outputs and minimizing waste. To achieve this end, the factory should control its manufacturing process to keep the production running stably. In particular, it must be capable to detect and alarm abnormalities and to predict when an issue might be going to happen for prevention, which helps address issues and minimize any production downtime. The capability can be achieved by building a smart system to analyze production equipment or process generated data for insights, following a concept called manufacturing operational intelligence. In this paper, we investigate the fundamentals of the discipline and apply into a specific case study in a computer chip making factory. The results are promising, and we can base on it to expand to other cases in the whole factory.
