This thesis deals with video games industry and behavior of video game players, which is recognized to be different from consumers of other products and services, throughout the life of a game. It will also target the questions of what the major factors that lead to buying decision and how developers live up to players’ expectation. The subject is reflected via marketing and other determinants that act as a backbone in players’ buying decision and post-purchase behavior in video game industry. This research will state what is known, what needs to be known as well as inclusion of data from the most recent reports available. The buying process are analyzed using the five-step decision making process and the factors are also added based on my observation and research in the gaming community. The determinants will be reviewed through multiple documents and reports. One-onone interview sessions will be later be conducted to understand the perspective of video game players after purchasing and actually playing a game. Public reports, questionnaires and related papers are also studied to obtain a more precise insight into consumer’s act and the video game industry itself.en_US
