dc.description.abstractNear Field Communication (NFC) is a new technology that has emerged in the last decade. According to [1], NFC is a short range, high frequency, and low bandwidth wireless communication technology based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). This technology enables data transactions between devices with bandwidth of about 424 kbps within distance up to 10 cm (usually less) using 13.56 MHz frequency [1]. The technology is a simple extension of the ISO 14443 proximity-card standard (RFID card) that combines the interface of a smartcard and a reader into a single device. NFC device can communicate with both existing ISO 14443 smartcards and readers, as well as with other NFC devices, and is thereby compatible with existing contactless infrastructure already in use for public transportation and payment. NFC is primarily aimed at usage in mobile phones. NFC is characterized as a very short-range radio communication technology with a lot of potential, especially when applied to mobile handsets. Imagine yourself using your cell phone to interact with posters, magazines, and even with products while at the store, and with such interaction initiating a request or search for related information in real-time. Other usages of NFC include the electronic wallet to make payments using your handset, the same way you do with your credit card. With NFC all this is possible. But NFC is still a young technology. The purpose of this thesis is to build a package that provides security method by locking system and book database management to optimize the performance of the librarian that interfaces with Near Field Communication. To do so, a system for door lock based on NFC technology is built as the security method. To reduce cost and remote system, server and database is not on- premises software, all of them will be built on cloud as a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service). A digital sticker with NFC technology inside would be stuck in the book to sync its data and status to the server.-
