| dc.description.abstract | Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) is one of the most challenging field of research in Robotics, which leads to a great amount of effort and knowledge for a single person to implement SLAM without the help of Robot Operating System (ROS). This report is generated in order to present basic working principles of ROS and how SLAM is implemented on ROS using its built – in packages. The report includes a brief introduction about ROS structure and operation, an intuitive explanation of Kalman Filter along with its application examples in robot localization, a rough instruction of how to build a static map using gmapping package with map_server and finally, a detailed discussion of the implementation of the robot_localization package in ROS in order to fully establish a complete SLAM for our Husky robot system. | en_US |
