Abstract: 
Vietnam is an Asian developing country, which its economy and quality of living are growing stronger. More Vietnamese people can afford to buy their own cars. The rapid increase number of car used causes several issues such as traffic congestion and difficulties in parking the cars because of the limited amount of parking lots. Nowadays, there are two types of conventional car parking which are parking lots and the multi-storey car parks that make people face a lot of difficulties in parking their own car and driving in large cities. The parking lot reserve a big acreage on the street, which will lead traffic jam if there are too many cars parked cars. In addition, the multi-storey car park is built underground or above the ground to optimize parking area. However, this parking system still has a disadvantage which is wasting a lot of time and fuel for car drivers to search for the empty parking space.
With the development of the industrial world, the automation of control systems is applied widely in industries and reality. Some modern developed countries in the world have come up with solutions to solve the above problems more effectively. This system will automatically park the car into the parking lot and take cars out of the garage without an influence of passengers.
In this project, the Automatic Car Parking System will be applied the Programmable Logic Controller – PLC to control automatically. The aim of this project is getting know the overview of control theory, PLC, how it works and automate this system. The progress of conducting this project begin by studying, understanding general knowledge of PLCs to automate the mechanism of this prototype. Moreover, knowledge about sensors and speed control of motors are also studied for positioning control. Especially, to make the system more convenient for the administrator, the user interface for monitoring the process is designed by the LabVIEW software. To create a connection between the SIMATIC Manager and LabVIEW software, NI OPC Server software is required to configure the connection properties and to communicate between databases and industrial devices.
