| dc.description.abstract | This project is related to small-scale wind turbines which can produce power at low wind speed. These turbine could work at the low star windspeed condition such as Binh Duong with high efficiency. Besides, the turbines should be flexible and the expenses for the turbine should not be expensive. Hence, it can be upgraded for lightening or supplying the power for home applications. This thesis focuses on the design and the testing of these turbines. This testing have the purpose that find out the better one. First of all, it is an overview of wind turbine as well as their types. Besides, it shows the characteristics of wind turbines.After that is the design of the turbine’s parts, including blades, shapes, end plates and generator. Regarding the wind turbines, which was tested, including Savonius wind turbine and Helix Wind Turbine. The Savonius Wind turbine was tested with overlap ratio of 0.15, while this one of Helix wind turbine is 0. The twisted angle of Helix wind turbine are 20o, 25, 30o were investigated. Finally, it was found that, in the low starting windspeed, the Helix wind turbine work more effective than the Savonius at low starting wind speed. Specially, the 30o helical had the highest power coefficient. However, in the normal range windspeed condition, the Savonius work more stability than the others. The reason is that the helix wind turbine had the turbulence when it worked at high windspeed. In order to prevent it from turbulence, the blades should be fixed and redesign. Hence, the Helical wind turbine can work efficiently in the high windspeed. | en_US |
