dc.description.abstractFootwear component manufacturers face increasing pressure to balance cost efficiency, consistent quality, and sustainable production, with material waste being a major concern. Traditional LEAN manufacturing methods, such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), are often ineffective in outsole production due to inconsistent procedures and lack of real-time analysis. Concurrently, Industry 4.0 technologies provide opportunities to enhance waste reduction through digital tools, including IIoT, cloud computing, RFID sensors, ERP systems, CPS, big data analytics, digital twins, and simulation software. This thesis develops a framework integrating VSM with IT-based solutions to identify waste factors and optimize processes across all production phases—from material preparation and mixing to pressing, inspection, and warehouse control. By combining LEAN principles with digital monitoring and analytics, the proposed approach enables precise decision-making, continuous improvement, and sustainable production practices. The study demonstrates practical strategies for footwear outsole suppliers to reduce non-value-added activities, improve efficiency, and achieve environmentally responsible manufacturing.en_US
