dc.description.abstract | Recently, Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated their versatility and capability across numerous domains, finding applications in programming, virtual assistance, creative content generation, and more. Among the diverse applications, an increasingly popular use of LLMs involves conversational AI, specifically in roleplaying. This approach involves instructing an LLM to embody a given character's persona, leveraging the provided prompt to guide its text generation. This concept finds significant resonance in the domain of Non-Playable Characters (NPCs) within video games. Applying LLM technology to NPCs introduces the potential for dynamic and unscripted interactions between players and game characters. Moreover, LLMs, when given limited instructions solely within the prompt, exhibit the ability to follow the given format. This enables the game to recognize the specific generated response and create a playable mission, which will be discussed in more detail. This thesis explores the implementation and implications of leveraging LLMs to enhance NPC interactions in video games, shedding light on the exciting possibilities of unscripted gameplay experiences. | en_US |
