Title: Study on operation and control strategies of bidirectional DC-DC converters in bess of low-voltage microgrid
Authors: Le Nguyen Ba Thong
Keywords: Bidirectional DC-DC converter;MPPT boost controller
Issue Date: 2023
Abstract:
The bidirectional DC-DC converters are extensively utilized in both the energy storage system (ESS) and DC distribution system. Consequently, a proposed bidirectional DC-DC converter with a potentially high conversion ratio aims to address the prevalent issue of low voltage input from renewable energy sources, particularly photovoltaic (PV) systems. This study focuses on elucidating the operational principles of the proposed converter in its step-down (buck) and step-up (boost) modes. The pivotal role of digital control within the converter system is emphasized, wherein a digital signal processor (TM4C) manufactured by Texas Instrument
serves as the designated control platform. Moreover, the study employs two Half Bridge (BuckBoost, MPPT) Development kits as the MPPT Boost Controller and Bidirectional DC-DC Converter, while an Isolated Voltage & Current Sensor Module (USM-3IV) produced by Taraz Technologies functions as the sensor for detecting voltage and current signals from the PV system and the load. This thesis paper comprehensively lists all the requisite components involved in the study
