| dc.description.abstract | Bingham fluid is a type of viscoplastic material, which flows only when an applied shear stress is greater than a critical value, a so-called yield stress t0, and behaves like a solid otherwise. It is frequently encountered in nature and engineering such as lava, sediment, and fresh concrete. In the flow field of a Bingham fluid, there can exist regions within which the material behaves like a solid, i.e., unyielded zones, and regions where the material behaves like a Newtonian fluid, i.e., yielded zones. In this thesis, we perform a detailed numerical study of a Bingham fluid over a cylinder confined between two parallel plates. | - |
