dc.description.abstract, By transforming a differential equation into an algebraic expression, the Laplace transform is a powerful tool for solving differential equations. With the assistance of different plotting methods, the laplace transform also provides another perspective to the system’s behaviour through the transfer function of the system. This thesis will introduce the theory of Laplace transform and apply it to the problems of mechanical vibrations in one and two degrees of freedom. In addition, the Laplace transform will also be used to examine the rheological models of viscoelastic materials.-
