The analysis employs the cross-sectional data from the World Bank’s Enterprise Surveys (WBES) of more than 140,000 firms in 139 countries covering the period 2005-2019 and includes a large number of control variables to account for different effects of other firm characteristics on innovation, as well as to increase the reliability of the regression results. Additionally, the study takes into consideration the differences across sectors. In particular, the relationship between ICT use and innovation is explored further in manufacturing and service firms separately. The results show that ICT use increases the probability of the two types of innovation in both manufacturing and service sectors, thus corroborate the importance of ICT on firm innovation. |
