Title: | Comparison of conventional PID-controllers with controllers based on artificial intelligence concepts like fuzzy logic and neural networks for process control | Authors: | Tran Van Ba | Keywords: | PID controller;Process control;Matlab simulink;Level control;Temperature control;Automation;Closed-loop control;AI concepts | Issue Date: | 2015 | Publisher: | Vietnamese-German University | Abstract: | Nowadays, conventional controller (PID controller) is the major control algorithm using in process control. Despite this control strategy is a robust algorithm, it also have some drawbacks such as cannot adapt to changes in systems, it is hard to find the controller parameters in nonlinear systems. In this research, we study about the two types of intelligence algorithms, fuzzy logic and neural network, and implement it on a common process, level control and temperature control. The system model is introduced first, both a mathematical and empirical model, based on this model we could develop a PID controller by using some different tuning methods. FLC and NNC algorithm are first tested on Matlab Simulink, then implemented on Siemens PLC S7-314C 2PN/DP, and using oscilloscope and datalog on WinCC flexible to collect data. The objective of the thesis is compare the performance of those controllers on real processes built in the laboratory. From the result of this study, we can choose the best control strategy for a similar process. |
