Title: | Analyze current cooling on injection molds in shoe manufacturing and improve the | Authors: | Nguyen Duc Do | Keywords: | Injection molds;Shoe production;Cooling system | Issue Date: | 2018 | Publisher: | Vietnamese-German University | Abstract: | Nowadays, injection molding process is widely applied in manufacturing various components, from the smallest parts such as accessories in shoe manufacturing to entire body panels in automotive industry. Due to the usefulness of injection molding, it now plays an important role in many industries. Therefore, having a deep understanding in this technology and properly applying to production lines is a key successful factor for manufacturers. For most injection molding processes, the cooling time takes up to around 80% of the cycle time. There are many factors influencing the cooling time of an injection molding process including part design, material selection, mold design and other factors related to cooling system. Studying the influences of those factors and improve the process to reduce the cooling time is a huge potential for improving the productivity in injection molding. Framas Vietnam is a leading supplier for Adidas, New Balance and other shoe manufacturers. The main products of the company include outsoles, shoe's accessories and other plastic parts of the shoe manufacturing. Although the cooling system has been applied in the production process, its effectiveness is still insignificant and the cooling time is still long. Therefore, improving the cooling system to reduce the cooling time while maintaining the quality of the products is a current challenge in the company. The research aims to analyze the current cooling on the molds and improve the design of cooling on the molds for shortening the cooling time of injection molding process at Framas Vietnam. |
