Title: | Corporate governance: effects on economic growth and firm performance | Authors: | Luu Nguyen Vinh Hanh | Keywords: | Corporate governance;Economic growth;Firm performance | Issue Date: | 2017 | Publisher: | Vietnamese-German University | Abstract: | Although it is just a little phrase called corporate governance, it has drawn much attention to many scholars and shareholders in recent years and the expression of corporate governance develops beyond a household term. Many researchers and policymakers acknowledge the potential macroeconomic, long-term outcomes of the fragile corporate governance mechanism. Besides, one of the most striking contrasts between countries' corporate governance structure is the ownership and control of corporations that occur across nations. Taking this into account, this paper will find whether there is a relationship between corporate governance quality on a country (system) or firm level and country (growth) or firm performance. The result indicates that the corporate governance has turned into a vital framework condition which influences the competitiveness and whole economic structure of many countries. Also, many empirical studies conclude different outcomes about connection between firm performance and economic growth and there are positive results amongst investor protection, financial market and economic growth. |
