Title: | Impact of education on living quality of households a capability approach evaluation in Vietnam | Authors: | Pham Anh Thu | Keywords: | Quality of living;Capability approach;Network DEA;Educational | Issue Date: | 2020 | Abstract: | This paper evaluates the participatory action on education impacts living quality by applying Sen‘s capability approach evaluation for provinces in Vietnam at the household level. The thesis explores the economist Amartya Sen‘s key ideas of his theory, quality of life and freedom, and public participation, then it links how the theory relate to specifically education. A model has been developed to evaluate education in context of Sen‘s capabilities, thus provides a way of improving fairness and equality in Vietnamese education system. The model addresses the determinants of living standards, measured by per capita commodities - including income and land value, capabilities – household allocation on inside institutional expenditure and outside institutional expenditure, and finally attainments – household educational status, Math and Literature national exam grades. By doing so, an evaluation of efficiency via Network DEA has been conducted for Vietnamese provinces in 2016, calculated the effectiveness of each stage of the model in the measurement technique |
