Green retrofitting takes into account the improvement of energy, materials and water consumption, helps to optimize existing buildings' performance, enhances occupants' satisfaction and economic returns while reducing negative effects to environment. Although demolition and replacement are sometime necessary to fulfill the current needs, however, many existing houses still possess significant opportunities to be upgraded. It would be greener and cost less than constructing new ones. This research was conducted in Da Lat city, which has a specific climate compare to other regions in Viet Nam. Due to the complex processes, the results of this study aim to help local people have better understanding on how to upgrade their houses base on proposed green criteria and solutions. |
