Consequences are high cost pressure and a highly dynamic product demand. The solutions of reacting to these challenges can be improving the production activities more flexibility and making an aggregated production planning model to meet the fluctuated demands of a changing market. In particular, the company must satisfy the variety of customer’s requirement in product and service, without dropping the productive efficiency. In this study, the main object is Vietnamese’s Automotive Industry, one of the potential market but still have a lot of challenges as higher competitions, higher variety of production requirement, higher cost pressure. These Vietnamese Automotive problems is interesting to us, and they are our motivation to study a six-month internship in order to find the solutions. This study considers the two suitable directions to solve Vietnamese Automotive Industry problems: Reducing waste and improving production line (part A- belongs to Bui Nguyen Hoang): The automotive industry in Vietnam is still young and the market is small. Hence, in order to keep up with the pace of development while invest low, the need of exploit everything is very big. We will focus on analyzing and evaluating the efficiency of current production lines at companies. After that we will find out the causes of waste and try to give out some solutions to smoothen the production lines. Creating an integrated aggregate production planning model (part B- belongs to Bao Duy): This study considersto build an efficient methodology to making an aggregate production planning model for optimal cost in the midterm planning horizontal of typical 6 to 12 months. In the automotive industry, material cost takes the biggest cost factor over the cost of sale, but it cannot be influenced by production planning. Therefore, the other way of saving cost is focusing on the labor cost, which ranges from 15 to 20% of cost of sales (International Journal of Production Research, 2010, p.1), or inventory cost. In other to build a production plan efficiently for minimizing the total cost of sale, there is a trend that integrating some of solutions such as the workforce adjusting, using working time hours and inventory holding to become a more flexible and adaptable model. All of the requirements put our study in the field of aggregate production planning. 2 In the practical study case, we will apply our theoretical study into the practical situation at a local automotive company. This section contains the information about problems encountered as working in practical environment and some flexible solutions taken out from the theory to overcome those. According to these valuable experiences, we develop our theoretical models into a flexible and adaptable models in reality. The result will be carried out in this sector, and the improvement proposals also are discussed |
