Title: | Optimizing schedules for machines and mobile robots in FMS by a hybrid approach | Authors: | Nguyen Thanh Cong | Keywords: | FMS;Optimizing schedule;Machines and mobile robots | Issue Date: | 2016 | Publisher: | Vietnamese-German University | Abstract: | This thesis addresses the problem of optimizing schedules for machines and mobile robots in FMS. The scheduling of different tasks on machines and the robot assignments are crucial to the utilization of FMS. This problem holds some similarities to the problem of simultaneous scheduling of machines and AGVs whose subproblems, namely machine scheduling and AGVs scheduling, are NP-hard. The main difference, which makes the problem more computationally expensive, is that the mobile robots are in charge of transportations of parts as well as performing several tasks on certain machines. The objective is to minimize the time required to complete all tasks by determining the sequence of processing on each machine, the robot assignment of transportation and processing for each task. Moreover, because the scheduling of machines and mobile robots is a part of real time operations, the best solution to the problem must be obtained quickly. It is also worth noticing that the complexity of the problem rapidly increases as the problem size grows. |
