Title: | Large eddy simulation of the flow around a wall mounted pyramid | Authors: | Huynh Thanh Phong | Keywords: | Simulation fluid flow;Large eddy simulation;Hexahedral elements;Root mean square pressure fluctuations;OpenFOAM | Issue Date: | 2014 | Publisher: | Vietnamese - German University | Abstract: | The results of simulation fluid flow around on pyramid are considered the possibility of designing of the new architectural from pyramidal structural experience. The model in this study of pyramid is made by ANSYS ICEM CFD and used open source OpenFOAM for simulating. The method of simulation is Large Eddy Simulation (LES) with model is proposed dynamic one eddy. Afterwards, the results is collected data and its comparison with others Siniˇsa Krajnovi´c and Ragnar L´arusson simulation and R.J. Martinuzzi, M.AbuOmar experimental data. The mesh or grid of model of pyramid is described in ANSYS ICEM CFD employ a technique structured mesh with hexahedral elements. After generating mesh of pyramid, it is exported in order to import to OpenFOAM. Study simulation on wall mounted pyramids in a thin turbulent boundary layer flow over a smooth wall at Reynolds numbers Re = 3:3 × 104. Numerical simulation of an pyramid in uniform cross flow is regarded in the present study. The main of this study is to calculate root mean square (rms) pressure fluctuations. Three terms of the transport equation for the rms pressure fluctuations shall be implemented in the open source flow solver OpenFOAM as well as work out and recorded during the unsteady simulation. Solver in OpenFOAM is used pisoFoam. By comparison between experimental and other numerical data with the present simulation results have to be validated such as moving average and root mean square of pressure coefficient. When the validation results is positive, the results each terms of the transport equation for the rms pressure shall be more safely used and analysis. These data will later be used in testing and possibly improving existing model assumptions to obtain a simple model for pressure fluctuation from calculations of the statistically steady flow field around buildings and structures |
