Title: | A study on headless content management systems and an application in web development | Authors: | Tran Minh Nguyen | Keywords: | Headless content management systems;Web development | Issue Date: | 2022 | Abstract: | In the ever-evolving landscape of web development, the demand for flexible, scalable, and efficient content management systems has led to the emergence of headless architectures. This thesis explores the integration of a Headless Content Management System (CMS) into web development, employing ReactJS for the front-end, NestJS for the back-end, and MongoDB as the database management system. The rationale behind this tech stack lies in its ability to decouple the presentation layer from the content management infrastructure, providing developers with unprecedented flexibility and empowering organizations to deliver dynamic and engaging digital experiences. The literature review delves into the evolution of content management systems, highlighting the shortcomings of traditional monolithic CMS and elucidating the advantages of adopting a headless approach. The study explores the intricacies of ReactJS, NestJS, and MongoDB, examining how each technology contributes to the overall architecture and functionality of the web application The methodology section outlines the system architecture and details the development process, shedding light on the challenges encountered and the solutions devised. Through a comprehensive case study and real-world scenarios, this thesis evaluates the performance of the proposed tech stack, comparing it with traditional CMS solutions. The implementation section provides insights into the role of ReactJS in crafting an interactive user interface, the contributions of NestJS in facilitating seamless communication between the front-end and MongoDB, and the robust data management capabilities of MongoDB. In the evaluation phase, key performance metrics are defined and measured, offering a quantitative analysis of the system's efficiency. User experience considerations and feedback provide qualitative insights into the practical implications of the implemented solution. In conclusion, this thesis synthesizes the findings, discusses their implications, and suggests avenues for future research. By embracing a headless CMS with a ReactJS, NestJS, and MongoDB stack, organizations can not only overcome the limitations of traditional content management but also pave the way for a more agile and innovative approach to web development |
