dc.description.abstract | In recent years, Ho Chi Minh City with a strong economic growth and remarkable changes in urban planning has led to the formation of new cities. That is the expansion of urbanization reaching out to the periphery of the city center, developing in a polycentric direction with a general center in the old inner city and satellite urban areas, in main four directions: North, East, West and South. This phenomenon puts on the importance of connecting axes which link the central city to otter developing neighboring districts. When commuting on these axes, people could experience the changes and inequality happening in the street building façade and street infrastructure, however, very little empirical research has been carried out to determine the streetscape fragmentation of these axes. The aim of this study was therefore to investigate the dissimilarity of different segments on the chosen axes connecting Central District 1 to adjacent districts in different directions. The streetscape of 3 case studies connecting from city center to West, North, East, which are 1st case of Tran Hung Dao Axis, 2nd case of Hai Ba Trung – Phan Dinh Phung – Nguyen Kiem Axis, 3rd case of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai – Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Axis, were captured, assessed and put on comparison together on the starting, middle and ending segments in the same way by the same focused criteria. The approach used in the research is street photo recordings with Google Street View tool for the data collecting, then mapping, projecting, calculating for the data processing and interpreting | en_US |
